2021년 말, 아케이드 게임계에선 상당히 안타까운 일이 하나 있었습니다. 많은 사람들에게 사랑받았던 건대입구 터줏대감과도 같은 ‘건대 게임천국’이 경영난을 견디지 못하고 폐업을 하게 된 것이죠. 그래서 현재 건대 근방의 게임센터는 지난 성지순례 때 찾았던 건대맛의거리 쪽 ‘펀시티’ 게임센터 한 곳만 남게 되었습니다.
기왕 건대 얘기가 나온 김에 이 근방 게임센터 역사에 대해 간단히 훑어보겠습니다. 나름 파란만장(?)한 역사를 지니고 있거든요. 건대노래방도우미건대 게임센터의 중심은 2000년대 초반 노룬산시장 쪽의 ‘우리들의 놀이터 건대점’, 2000년대 후반 건대스타시티 3층 '크리오네 게임장', 2010년대 초반 화양시장 쪽 ‘게임천국’을 거쳐 2022년 현재는 건대맛의거리 쪽 ‘펀시티’로 옮겨왔습니다.
그 중 '크리오네 게임장' 폐업 이후 롯데시네마가 입점한 스타시티엔 더 이상 게임센터가 들어오지 않고 있었는데, 바로 이 곳에 최근 새 게임센터 하나가 들어섰다는 소식을 듣게 되었습니다. 그래서 이번 성지순례는 과연 그 자리에 어떤 게임센터가 들어왔는지 확인해보러 떠났습니다.
건대 스타시티 2층 롯데시네마 매표소 옆의 ‘브릭스 펀 랜드(VRICS Fun Land)' 입니다. 예전 크리오네 게임장이 있던 곳과 같은 건물이긴 하지만, 3층이 아닌 2층 영화관 바로 옆에 붙어있어 마니아 유저 뿐 아니라 일반인들의 접근성도 훨씬 좋아졌습니다. 참고로 '브릭스 펀 랜드'는 롯데 계열사 쇼핑몰 등에 출점하는 체인 형식 게임센터로, 용인과 잠실, 수원에 있는 롯데몰 내에도 같은 이름의 매장이 있습니다.
매장 출입문 밖에는 기기 몇 대가 돌아가고 있는데요, 가챠퐁, 크레인게임(인형뽑기), 틀린그림찾기 등 가볍게 즐기고 갈 수 있는 게임들입니다. 틀린그림찾기 오른편에 설치된 다트와 비슷하게 생긴 처음 보는 게임은 ‘재미삼아 홈런왕’ 이라는 이름의 배팅게임이라고 하네요. 게임 결과에 따라 경품도 지급됩니다.
매장 안으로 들어와 보았습니다. 제일 먼저 출입문 왼편을 한 번 확인해 보았는데요, 직원이 상주하는 작은 규모의 카운터와 함께 각종 체감형 게임들이 쭉 늘어서 있습니다. 전체적인 실내 인테리어는 검은 외벽 위주로 깔끔하게 정리되어 있는데요, 브릭스(VRICS)라는 매장 로고가 돋보입니다. 다소 이색적이라고 느꼈던 건 구형 기체가 아닌 네트워크 서비스를 지원하는 ‘신 태고의 달인’이 한 대 설치되어 있다는 부분입니다.
어느 게임센터를 가나 어렵지 않게 만나볼 수 있는 에어하키, 그 뒤로 ‘FASTER’ 라는 이름의 1 대 1 맞대결 건슈팅게임 한 대와 함께 손펌프 ‘비트온’ 펌프 프라임2 한 대가 나란히 설치되어 있습니다. 출입문 밖에 있던 배팅 경품 게임과 더불어 다른 게임센터에서는 본 적 없는 이색적인 체감형게임이 은근히 많이 보이는군요. 동전 교환은 에어하키 뒷편에 보이는 직원 카운터 쪽에서 할 수 있습니다.

건대 스타시티 크리오네 게임센터 폐업 이후 약 10여 년 만에 다시 생긴 스타시티의 게임센터, ‘브릭스 펀 랜드(VRICS Fun Land)’. 크리오네잠실노래방도우미의 경우 각종 직수입 게임들을 통해 마니아 유저들의 방문 비율이 높았는데, 이 곳은 위치도 롯데시네마와 같은 층으로 옮겨 접근성을 높이고 좀 더 가볍게 즐길 수 있는 캐주얼게임, 스포츠게임, 경품게임 위주로 구성돼 있습니다.

건대 브릭스 펀 랜드 근처 맛집 1. 토리파이탄 라멘의 강자, 건대 초라멘
최근엔 예전과 달리 국내에도 본격적인 일본라멘 전문점이 늘었습니다. 수많은 유동인구가 있는 건대에도 훌륭한 실력을 가진 라멘집이 몇 군데 있는데요, 최근 그 중 가장 크게 떠오르고 있는 ‘초라멘’ 을 한 번 소개하려 합니다.
이 집의 주력 메뉴는 ‘토리파이탄’이라는 조금 생소한 닭고기 육수 라멘인데요, 뽀얗고 진한 진국 육수가 매우 매력적입니다. 거기에 라멘 위에 올라가는 ‘차슈’ 라고 하는 고깃덩어리의 종류도 무려 세 가지! 불에 구운 돼지고기와 수비드로 익혀 부드럽게 씹히는 닭고기, 쇠고기 로스트 비프까지…! 돼지, 닭, 소를 한 번에 먹을 수 있는 메리트는 절대 놓칠 수 없지요.
몇 년 전, 돈까스 무한리필이 큰 유행을 탄 적이 있었습니다. 당시 유행에 힘입어 수많은 가게가 우후죽순 생겨났지만, 유행이 식으며 대부분이 사라져 버렸지요. 하지만 그 와중에도 끝까지 살아남은 가게가 몇 있는데, 그 중 하나가 바로 화양시장 안에 위치한 돈까스&떡갈비 전문점 ‘건국수제돈까스’입니다.

술집이 늘어서 있는 건대맛의거리 방향이 아닌, 2호선 고가 선로를 중심으로 반대편 거리엔 중국인들이 영업하는 정통 중화요리 전문점이 쭉 늘어서 있습니다. 짜장면, 짬뽕 등 한국화된 중국집이 아니라, 양꼬치, 훠궈 등을 파는 정통 중화요리 전문점 말이죠.
이 거리에선 어디를 가나 맛있는 중화요리를 즐길 수 있긴 합니다만, 그 중 가장 유명한 곳은 단연 이 ‘매화반점’이 아닐까 싶습니다. 요리 가격도 그리 비싸지 않고 소량으로 주문하는 것도 가능하기 때문에, 거나하게 한 상 차려 먹는 것 뿐 아니라 2~3차로 가볍게 방문해 맥주나 중국술을 마시며 가볍게 즐기는 것도 가능합니다. 개인적으로 얼얼하게 매운 마파두부와 시원한 칭다오 한 잔을 가장 좋아합니다.
단계적 일상회복(위드 코로나)' 시행 첫날인 1일 밤 서울 강남구, 종로구 대학로, 광진구 건대입구 역등 번화가에는 오랜만에 생긴 여유를 즐기려는 사람들로 붐볐다. 몇몇 술집에서는 '만석' 팻말을 내걸기도 했다.
이날 취재진이 서울 강남구 강남역과 중구 명동, 종로구 젊음의 거리·대학로, 광진구 건대입구역 등 번화가를 방문한 결과 식당과 카페 등모란노래방도우미 대부분의 업종에서 손님이 크게 늘었다고 입을 모았다. 직장인들이 자주 찾는 종각역과 강남역 일대는 회식을 하는 손님들로 북적였으며 일부 업소는 '만석' 팻말을 내걸기도 했다. 종각역의 한 고깃집은 업주가 직접 나와 미소를 띠고 줄을 선 손님들을 맞았다.
광진구의 한 감자탕집에서는 업주와 가족, 딸까지 앞치마를 두르고 바쁘게 움직였다. 업주 A씨(54)는 "지난주보다 손님이 2~3배는 많이 온 것 같다"라며 "소주·맥주는 물론 막걸리까지 다 떨어져 딸이 인근 대형마트에 사러 갔다"고 했다. 그러면서 "오늘만 같으면 정말 장사할 맛이 날 것 같다"라고 했다. 가게 뒤편에는 빈 맥주병과 소주병이 가득히 쌓여 있었다.
이날 번화가에서는 취객들이 한데 몰리면서 주먹다짐이 일어나거나 고성을 지르는 등 소란도 이어졌다. 광진구 건대입구역 2번출구 인근에서는 "술값을 안 냈다"는 이유로 2명이 주먹을 휘두르다 일행의 손에 이끌려 택시를 타고 사라졌다. 중구 명동의 한 술집 앞에서는 마스크를 벗은 외국인 3명이 팔짱을 낀 채 거리를 활보했다. 밤 10시가 넘자 술에 취해 마스크 없이 길바닥에 주저앉은 시민도 눈에 띄었다.
일부 시민들은 거리두기 완화가 다소 성급한 것이 아니냐는 우려의 목소리를 냈다. 광진구 건대입구역 인근을 지나던 시민 유종혁씨(31)는 "밤 늦도록 친구들과 술을 마실 수 있는 것은 좋지만 아직까지 확진자가 매일 수천명대가 나오는데 너무 풀어 주는 게 아닌가 하는 불안감이 든다"라며 "오늘 친구 3명과 술자리를 가졌는데 조금 불안해 11시 이전에는 귀가하려고 한다"고 했다.
밤 12시까지로 영업시간이 제한된 유흥업소는 볼멘소리를 냈다. 서울 종로구 종각역 일대의 한 성인 노래방. 10여m 떨어진 인근의 한 술집은 밤늦도록 이어지는 술자리 손님들로 신바람을 내고 있었으나 이 노래방은 10개의 방 중 1개만 차 있었다. 업주 B씨(56)는 "방역 풀어준다고 해 기대했는데 지난주와 다른 게 없다"라며 "술자리 끝내고 오는 데가 노래방인데 누가 2시간 노래부르러 오겠나"라고 한숨을 쉬었다.
강남역 인근의 한 성인 노래방 업주는 "이런 가게는 최소 이용 시간이 1시간인데 영업제한이 12시까지니 11시 이후에 오는 손님들은 못 받는다는 의미"라며 "술을 팔아야 이익이 남는데 지금 손님들도 모두 노래만 부르러 온 분들밖에 없다"고 한숨을 쉬었다. 이 업소는 6개의 방 중 3개가 차 있었다.
중앙재난안전대책본부(중대본)에 따르면 이날부터 시행되는 '코로나19 단계적 일상회복 이행계획 3단계' 중 1단계에서는 생업시설의 영업시간 제한이 해제돼 24시간 영업을 할 수 있다. 그러나 유흥업소, 콜라텍, 무도장 등은 '감염 고위험시설'로 분류돼 밤 12시 영업 제한을 받는다. 이들 시설에 입장할 경우 접종완료증명서나 PCR(유전자증폭) 검사 음성 확인서를 보여줘야 한다.
유흥업소 업주 단체 등은 이같은 조치가 유흥업소를 차별하고 있다는 입장이다. 코로나19 피해업종 총연대 공동추진위에 따르면 코로나19 사태 발발 이후 유흥업소 업주 중 8명이 영업난에 시달리다 극단적인 선택을 했다. 단체는 영업시간 제한 조치 등 차별대우가 조속히 해소되지 않으면 극단 선택이나 폐업 등으로 내몰리는 업주가 더 늘어날 것이라고 지적한다.
오호석 공동추진위 위원장은 "유흥업소들은 손님이 방문하는 시간 자체가 늦기 때문에 영업시간 제한은 사실상 영업을 하지 말라는 의미나 다름없다"라며 "유흥업소들은 1년 6개월 동안 정부의 방역지침에 협조해 왔는데 유독 다른 업종에 비해 불합리한 대우를 받고 있다"고 주장했다.
광진구는 지난 2월 초를 전후 해 건대 맛의 거리 일부 음식점에서 집단감염이 발생함에 따라 추가 확진자 발생을 막고자 청춘뜨락에 임시선별검사소를 설치해 업소 사업주와 종업원을 대상으로 코로나19 선제검사를 실시한다.
선제검사는 22일부터 24일까지 3일간 오후 1시부터 5시까지 진행되며 대상은 건대입구역을 비롯한 화양동 음식점 1천여 개 업소 종사자 약 3,500명이다. 여기에 노래방, pc방 등 기타 업소와 대학문화의거리 인근 업소들도 포함돼 모진동 지역을 제외한 사실상 화양동 전역의 업소를 대상으로 하고 있다.
구는 대표자에게 안내 문자를 발송하고 요식업 협회, 맛의 거리 상인회와 협업을 통해 사업주와 종업원들이 빠짐없이 검사를 받을 수 있도록 안내하고 있다. 또한, 협회를 통해 기초조사서를 검사 전에 작성하여 검사가 신속하게 진행될 수 있도록 할 예정이다.
검사 첫날인 22일 청춘뜨락을 찾은 김선갑 구청장은 “우리 구는 유사한 집단감염 발생 위험을 막고자 지난 6일 일반음식점을 대상으로 행정명령을 내렸으며, 매일 지도 단속을 하는 등 감염 확산의 틈새를 막기 위해 노력하고 있다. 하지만 언제 어디서 코로나19에 감염됐을지 모르는 상황이기에 건대 맛의 거리 전 종사자를 대상으로 선제검사를 실시하여 촘촘한 방역체계를 지켜내겠다. 이번 선제검사가 서울시 전 자치구 먹자골목, 맛의 거리 등으로 확대되어 감염경로를 사전에 차단하는데 도움이 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.
구는 추후 주민들의 반응과 효과 등을 살펴본 후, 선제검사 확대를 검토할 계획이다.
위태로운 청춘들의 애틋한 겨울나기를 그린 멜로 <그 겨울, 나는>이 23일(수) 롯데시네마 건대입구에서 언론시사회를 갖고 개봉을 준비 중이다.
제26회 부산국제영화제 [한국영화의 오늘-비전] 부문에서 ‘한국영화감독조합상-메가박스상’과 ‘올해의 배우상’(권다함), ‘왓챠상’까지에서 3관왕을 차지한 신예 오성호 감독의 <그 겨울, 나는>은 미친 듯이 공부하고 열심히 사랑 중인 가난한 공시생과 취준생 커플의 애틋한 겨울나기를 통해, 지금 청춘들의 현실적인 고민을 섬세하고 사려 깊게 응시한 영화다.
배우 권다함은 “2년 전 이맘때쯤에 치열하게 촬영을 하고 있었는데 이렇게 개봉까지 하게 되어 감사드린다”며 기자 간담회의 포문을 열였고, 배우 권소현은 “이 영화가 조금이나마 위로가 되었으면 좋겠다고 생각하는데 이런 날이 찾아와서 너무 기쁘다”는 소감을 전했다.
오성호 감독은 “첫 연출작이기도 하고, 배우들도 첫 장편 주연작이다. 감회가 남다르다. 예쁘게 봐주시면 감사하겠다”며 “생업을 위해 막노동일을 했었다. 일을 하다가 어금니가 깨졌다. 안 그래도 돈이 없는데 큰돈 쓸 생각하니까 속상하고 분했다. 집에 가는 길에 배달 오토바이 한 대가 지나갔는데 그때 유독 오토바이 엔진 소리가 구슬프게 들렸다. 그때 돈 없는 청년의 이야기를 해야겠다고 결심했다”며 시나리오의 시작을 진솔하게 밝혔다.
권소현 배우는 “‘마냥 행복한 게 청춘의 전부는 아니구나, 좀 슬프고 아파야 청춘이구나’ 생각하며 위로만 주진 않는 영화가 매력적으로 다가와 ‘혜진’을 잘 표현하고 싶었다”고 밝혔고, 권다함 배우는 “처음 시나리오를 읽었을 때 실제로 있을 법한 일들이라고 생각했고, 오성호 감독의 전작들과 함께 보았을 때 정말 지독하게 현실적인 이야기가 나오겠다고 생각했다. 그래서 꼭 ‘경학’을 연기하고 싶었다”라며 각자 캐릭터에 대한 당시의 열정을 전했다.
<그 겨울, 나는> 속 노래방 장면에서 ‘젝스키스-커플’을 선곡한 이유를 묻는 질문에 오성호 감독은 ”프리덕션 단계일 때 배우들과 함께 노래방을 가 이 곡 저 곡 불러보았고, 그때 직관적으로 ‘커플’이 가장 좋아 사용하게 되었다”고 말했다. 뒤이어 배우 권다함이 “슬픈 노래도 불러보고, 즐거운 노래도 불러봤는데 ‘커플’을 부를 때 멜로디는 밝은데 아련해지고 슬퍼지는 느낌이 있어 선정하게 되었다”라며 답변에 덧붙여 비하인드를 밝혔다.
오성호 감독은 가장 공들여 찍은 장면에 대해 “마지막 10분 동안 궁극적으로 하고 싶은 이야기를 했다. 그 10분을 관객들에게 선물해주고 싶었다. 보시고 공감과 위로가 되었으면 좋겠다고 생각했다”며 마지막 10분에 대한 궁금증을 더욱 높였다. 세상의 ‘혜진’과 ‘경학’에게 한마디를 해 달라는 말에 배우 권다함은 “세상의 ‘경학’에 나도 포함되어 있다고 생각한다. 살다 보면 조금씩 순수함을 잊어간다. 모든 ‘경학’이 순수함을 잃을 정도로 많이 아프지 않았으면 좋겠다. 그런 세상이 왔으면 좋겠다”, 배우 권소현은 “최선을 다했다고 말해주고 싶다. 그때 나의 선택이 최선이라고 생각하면 위로가 된다”라며 지금을 살고 있는 청춘세대에 대한 위로를 전했다.
끝으로 오성호 감독은 “아주 보편적인 감정과 경험을 담은 영화다. 꼭 극장에서 만나면 좋을 것 같다”, 배우 권다함은 “인생의 추운 겨울을 보내고 있는 청춘들을 통해 본인의 모습을 찾을 수 있을 거라 장담한다. 영화 보시고 함께 아파하고 위로받으며 겨울을 따뜻하게 잘 보냈으면 좋겠다”, 배우 권소현은 “각자의 이유로 치열하게 찍은 작품이다. <그 겨울, 나는>을 통해 자신을 찾아가는 계기가 되었으면 좋겠다”라며 개봉을 앞둔 소감을 전했다.
정부는 두 업종은 춤과 접객원이라는 요소 때문에 술만 마시는 일반 주점보다 '향락'의 정도가 높고, 이런 업종까지 세금으로 지원하는 건 국민 정서상 안 맞다고 설명했다. 단란주점은 술과 노래를 동시에 즐길 수 있지만 유흥주점업보다는 향락성이 한단계 낮다고 봤다.
정부 설명대로면, 또 원칙대로면 감성주점과 헌팅포차, 단란주점은 춤과 접객원을 허용해선 안 된다. 실제 이들 업소는 유흥주점업이 아닌 '일반음식점업'으로 신고해 영업한다. 문제는 일반음식점업으로 신고해놓고 유사 클럽, 유사 유흥주점처럼 운영하는 업소가 너무 많다는 점이다. 정부 지원 기준이 발표되자 많은 사람들이 "감성주점, 헌팅포차나 클럽이나 영업 행태는 별 다를 바가 없는데?"라고 갸우뚱했던 이유가 여기 있다.
올 5월 서울 이태원 클럽발(發) 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 집단 감염이 발생한 일이 있었다. 이때 용산구가 구내 51곳 클럽을 전수 조사하자 25곳이 일반음식점업으로 분류돼 있었다. 당시 무더기로 확진자가 나온 클럽 트렁크, 퀸 등도 일반음식점이었다. 서울 강남이나 홍대 등 클럽이 많은 지역도 상황이 비슷하다는 게 업계 전언이다. 작년 손님 폭행 사건 등으로 물의를 빚은 클럽 '버닝썬'도 일반음식점으로 영업해왔다.
정부가 10일 발표한 소상공인 피해 긴급지원책을 두고 지원 기준이 모호하고 자의적이라는 지적이 커지고 있다. 가장 논란이 큰 분야는 12종 고위험시설 운영업자에 대한 지원 기준이다. 유흥주점업(클럽, 룸살롱 등)과 무도장 운영업(콜라텍)은 지원을 안하고, 이와 비슷해 보이는 단란주점, 감성주점, 헌팅포차는 200만원씩 지원하기로 했기 때문이다.
이런 기준은 최소한 이번에 급조한 건 아니라는 게 정부 설명이다. 원래 있던 '소상공인 정책자금 운용지침'을 그대로 따랐다는 것이다. 지침엔 정책자금 지원제외 업종을 규정하고 있다. 여기에 유흥주점업과 무도장 운영업이 명시돼 있다. 이 기준은 그동안 정부의 모든 소상공인 지원책에 공히 적용돼 왔다.
그렇다면 왜 두 업종은 지원 대상에서 빼왔던 것일까. 이들 업종의 특징은 업소에서 춤을 출 수 있거나 접객원(손님과 함께 술을 마시거나 노래 또는 춤으로 흥을 돋우는 직원)을 둔다는 점이다. 식품위생법은 유흥주점업을 '주로 주류를 조리ㆍ판매하는 영업으로서 유흥종사자(접객원)를 두거나 유흥시설을 설치할 수 있고 손님이 노래를 부르거나 춤을 추는 행위가 허용되는 영업'이라고 정의한다. 무도장 운영업은 주류와 식사가 제공되지 않는 무도장, 댄스홀 등을 운영하는 업으로 규정돼 있다.
술과 춤을 동시에 즐기는 곳이면 유흥주점업으로 신고해야 하지만 상당수 업소가 유흥주점은 규제가 까다롭다는 점 때문에 편법을 쓰고 있다. 대다수 감성주점도 일반음식점업으로 신고해놓고 춤을 허용하고 있다. 단란주점은 법상으로는 접객원을 두면 안되지만 편법 운영하는 곳이 부지기수다. 정부와 지방자치단체도 편법 운영이 만연하다는 점을 알고 있다. 하지만 단속 인력이 부족하다는 등 이유로 문제를 방치하고 있다는 게 공공연한 비밀이다.
